Some warning signs that students may require the assistance of mental health services are:
- Increased anger, loss of temper, aggressive behavior
- Increased moodiness, withdrawal; isolation from friends and family
- Drug and/or alcohol abuse
- Feeling rejected and alone
- Decrease in ability to perform well academically
- Major changes in eating and sleeping habits
- Feelings of hopelessness, guilt, worthlessness
- Getting into trouble with authority figures
- Perfectionism causing distress
- Giving away important possessions
- Threatening or communicating thoughts of suicide, homicide, death, dying, and/or the afterlife (Immediate help is required in this situation)
